Sara Deponte

A graduate of Parson’s School of Design, NYC, Sara has been involved in the commercial art field as designer, art director and illustrator for over thirty years. Working out of White Pickets Studio, Sara is one of a family of artists: husband Fabio, son Matthew, and daughter Nicole.

“The relationship I have with watercolor is filled with surprises.  I am forever rediscovering the delight of this medium. When to harness its independence and when to give it freedom. Watercolor should be clean and pure, never traveling in muddy waters. The papers I use differ depending on what I hope to achieve, and their brightness and texture with the paint, never completely hidden.

Exploring and interpreting with careful observation and a brush: the beauty of flowers; the grace and power of horses; the special look in the eye; unique shapes and the variety of color within color.”

Sara has enjoyed riding her “equine soulmate” Arabian Boston, of 28 years and now her appaloosa Bella and quarterhorse, Catalina. Ducks patrol the pond while their dog Burt and three cats patrol the house.
