Full Artist Bio
Li Wang was born in China, in 1956, to an artistic family, where he grew up with an oriental cult influence.
He has a degree in Fine Art and the History of Art in China from the Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. Li Wang is also a member of the Oil Painting Association of America and Vice President of the Canadian Chinese Artist Association.
He immigrated to the United States in 1978, in search of artistic and political freedom and the opportunity to pursue his career in painting. Since 1982 Li Wang has been exhibiting continuously across Canada and the United States. He has had one man shows in Singapore, the Czech Republic, Denmark and Hungary.
Li Wang is best known for his still-lifes with themes involving his unique ability to combine his oriental cult influence and Chinese pottery. These works create a sense of peace, tranquility, and oriental mystery, using the contrast of dark, rich passages and opaque light. Not only are his paintings wonderful to view and to live with, but a steadily increasing demand for his work makes this exciting artist highly collectible.

This whimsical cityscape is a total contrast to Ian’s typical expression of a highly detailed Barbizon and into the early 1900’s style. It always intrigues me to see the different artist’s expressions.
